One of my favorite things about my kiddos is their love of airplanes.
They love to pretend they are on an airplane. They set up the chairs into an airplane formation. Back in Ohio, most kids have never been on an airplane, or to the airport, but here kids grow up flying on airplanes. Every single one of my kids has been on an airplane before.
My kiddos take turns being the pilot and taking everyone somewhere. They all pretend to drive up to the airport on their Honda, and they hand the pilot their ticket. The pilot asks everyone where they are going. The pilot uses a book, or in this case, the stamp pad as the steering wheel. The passengers put their seat belts on and are ready to go. The pilot pretends to drive to the destination and the passengers all wave to whoever is waiting at the airport to pick them up. They get off the plane and maybe get back on to go somewhere else.
We have gone to Tooksok, Bethel, and Anchorage. My favorite was when we went to New York to ride horses. We have also visited my mom and dad in Ohio. The most popular destination is Tooksok, though.
This is probably the 5th time my kids have set up the airplane in the classroom. I usually get roped in and end up as someone's baby. They like to "buy" things at the store, so I am entertained on the plane. Last time, they bought me a "Where's Waldo" book.
