This past week I was invited to go ice fishing with my friend Jimmie. I went with him during school on Thursday as a chaperone for the middle and high school students.
Everyone made a hole in the ice and was able to fish. No one caught anything, however a few were close.
I helped some students make their hole with an ice pick.
On the weekend, Sarah and I went out with no students. It was a beautiful sunny day on the river. We rode the 4-wheeler about 5 minutes down the river.
Sarah used a pre-made hole. She just removed the thin layer of ice that formed on the top of the hole.
I, however, wanted to make my very own hole from scratch. I could just barely reach the bottom of the hole with my arm, so the ice was about 3 feet deep in the middle of the river.
Sarah sat on the Honda and just watched me. She thought I was crazy to make a new hole. She was trying to snag a lush fish with her homemade fishing pole.
I had a lot of fun making my hole in the ice and I am very proud that I made it all by myself. Maybe next time we'll actually catch a fish. :)
