Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was bittersweet this year.  I missed being with my family, but I had a lot of fun with my "School Family." A group of us had a Thanksgiving dinner at the school on Thursday.  Sarah and I invited our friend Laura, a fellow first year teacher, to come visit for the long weekend.  She lives in Tununak, which is also on Nelson Island, and is about a 15 minute flight over.

We had a bunch of food.  Eight people showed up, but we had four turkeys and a ham, plus all the desserts.  Sarah cooked a turkey in our oven that we didn't even bring over to the school.  We froze most of it and made potpies out of the rest.  We will be eating turkey for the rest of the year.

I made an apple pie using a bottle of salad dressing as my rolling pin.  I think it turned out rather well.  I think I might use a bottle from now on...

After all the food was cooked, and eaten, we played Catan for hours.  We also had a Harry Potter marathon.  We watched all 8 movies in two days. It was great!

We also invited Jerry (my principal) and his wife over for Catan.  It was their first time playing and it is always fun to introduce more people to the fabulous game of Catan.
