A lot has happened since my last update....
On the 23rd I finally made my flight into Anchorage and I was planning on spending the night in a hotel. I arrived in Anchorage around 3:00 pm. and went up to the customer service counter for Alaska Air. I asked if I could be put on the standby list for an earlier flight. I was hoping that I might be able to come home a little bit earlier than expected. The lady who was helping me found a flight for the 23rd leaving at 5:30 pm and arrives in Cleveland at 1:00pm on the 24th. I had her rearrange my flight just in time to check-in my bag and go through security before the plane started to board. I was on my way home! :)
After 3 1/2 hours, I arrived in Seattle. I was able to eat some dinner and charge my phone before the next leg of my journey. I left Seattle at 11:50 pm for Dallas, TX. Another 3 1/2 hours later, I arrived in Dallas. It was 5:30 am. I don't sleep well on planes, so at this moment in time, I have been up for almost 20 hours. My flight to Cleveland did not leave Dallas until 9:30 am. I was so excited to get home, I couldn't sleep at all in the airport or on the plane.
I arrived in Cleveland at 1:00 pm on Tuesday the 24th. I ran down the stairs to meet my mom at the baggage claim. I think we hugged for a solid minute with some tears. I was so happy to be back in the lower 48.
As a result of rearranging my flight in Anchorage, I was able to see everyone in my family. I got to see the Enos' on Christmas Eve when I originally thought I would miss them. I also saw all the Russo's on Christmas Day. All in all, I had a great Christmas. I was very grateful to be with my family for the holidays instead of sitting at the airport. To quote my cousin, "Christmas miracles really do come true!"
